  • The city center council of Amsterdam is going to prohibit the selling of magic truffles in Amsterdam in souvenirs shops and other shops. They want to make the sales of magic truffles only exclusively available in specialised smartshops.

    Last summer a tourist died when he was under influence of magic truffles and jumped out of window. What it made it very painful was that the magic truffles were easily available in souvenir shops. This was not the first incident with a tourist. Continue reading

  • The city of Amsterdam will still close 26 coffee shops in the Red Light District. Half September, the council plans to close not to pursue, but Mayor Van der Laan decision now quite different.

    The Dutch minister, Opstelten, stated that tourist still are allowed to visit coffeeshops in Amsterdam. Although there are new laws concerning the use and allowance of foreigners in coffeeshops, tourists can still enjoy getting high in our capital!

  • On October 6 & 7 OPEN's second international conference took place in Amsterdam: the Interdisciplinary Conference on Psychedelic Research. In a sold out Mozeskerk over 400 researchers, students, therapists and scholars gathered to listen and discuss the latest psychedelic research. From brain imaging studies on psilocybin, philosophical discussions on the meaning of altered states of consciousness to a debate on the place of MDMA in psychotherapy, ICPR set the standard for future events.

    Research into psychedelics is slowly being taken seriously in the Netherlands.
