How it compares to 70% isopropyl alcohol (IPA)

70% IPA has been the mycology default for decades, and for good reason — it works. Meliseptol works on the same principle: alcohol-based, evaporates clean, kills bacteria, yeasts and fungal spores on contact. The difference is the formula.

• n-propanol instead of isopropanol — a larger alcohol molecule that lingers slightly longer on the surface before evaporating, giving the disinfectant more time to do its job
• Added quaternary ammonium compound — boosts performance against stubborn fungal spores and bacteria that pure alcohol can leave behind
• Same workflow — spray, wait one minute, done. No rinsing, no wiping dry. Use it exactly the way you’d use 70% IPA

• 50 g n-propanol per 100 g solution (medical-grade alcohol)
• 0.075 g didecyldimethylammonium chloride (broad-spectrum disinfectant compound)

How to use

1. Spray the surface until it is visibly wet (max. 50 ml per m²).
2. Let it sit for at least 1 minute — do not wipe dry early.
3. The surface will air-dry on its own. No rinsing required.

Compatibility

Compatible with most plastics, glass, stainless steel and treated wood. Always spot-test alcohol-sensitive materials (some clear plastics and painted surfaces) before full application. Turn electrical equipment off before disinfecting.
